EL ATEO GUIDES
What NOM 1635 means on Tequila El Ateo
NOM-006-SCFI-2012 is the standard that regulates the Tequila denomination. The number associated with a bottle identifies the authorized producer within the applicable assessment system; it is not a flavor score. “Single Brand NOM 1635” is El Ateo’s positioning for communicating its relationship with that production origin, not an independent regulatory category.
Are NOM 1635 and NOM-006 the same thing?
No. NOM-006-SCFI-2012 sets specifications for Tequila. The identifier on the bottle links the product to an authorized producer. The general standard and the producer number should be understood separately.
What does “Single Brand NOM” mean?
It is a way of communicating El Ateo’s production identity. It should be read as brand positioning, not as an additional certification created by the authorities.
How can you verify the information?
Consult the standard published in Mexico’s Official Gazette and information from the Tequila Regulatory Council. Primary sources should take precedence over promotional claims.
